What is FATCA?
Go to dashboardForeign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is a law whereby, USA has entered into Inter- Governmental Agreement (IGA) with India on 9th July 2015 whereby India will provide information to USA about policies held by US persons. To implement this, certain new sections under Income Tax Act, 1961 has been introduced which requires Life Insurance Companies to provide information to the Indian tax authorities, which will then be transmitted to the USA.
Apart from Agreement with USA, other countries have also entered an agreement, known as Common Reporting Standard (“CRS”) for exchange of information.
For your Max Life policy the term FATCA means updation of your FTIN (Foreign Ta Identification Number) through self-certification form along with foreign address proof, collection of OVD Proof & FTIN document.

*OVD- Official Valid Proof such as Aadhar, Passport, Driving License ,Voter ID or NAREGA Job Card

Other Countries | FTIN stands for Foreign Taxpayer Identification Number. This is a unique number issued by revenue department of your resident country. In case your country does not issue FTIN, any functional equivalent like Social Security Number, National Insurance Number, Resident Registration Number, Citizen or Personal Identification Code or Number etc. is acceptable along with proof |
